Permanent artwork in public space, Alkmaar
Currently I'm working on Hoef van Eden, a permanent installation at the school yard of Campus De Hoef in Alkmaar. The work consists of a bridge to an island in a wadi, with a gazebo on stilts. Four trees surround and complete the artwork: one for each season. The hardwood bridge and gazebo are covered with 33,000 second-hand LEGO bricks. From a distance the art work reminds of a landscape painting. The opening is on November 1, 2023.
BijlmAIR Heesterveld / CBK Zuidoost Amsterdam
My proposal Bijlmersymfonie has been selected for realisation during a BijlmAIR artist-in-residency at Heesterveld via CBK Zuidoost in Amsterdam spring 2024. Cultuurfonds supports the project as well. More information about the research and plan will follow closer to the date.
Continuation of Parade in Yogyakarta
To be continued in 2024? In December 2022 - January 2023 I worked again in Yogyakarta on the project Parade with ambulant street vendors. It had been three years since my last visit there. In the meantime I wrote a composition in Amsterdam with the specific sounds of the vendors, in collaboration with composer Sinta Wullur. The aim in Yogya was to find the vendors, rehearse my composition and prepare for a parade. I was based at our home there and at Krack! Studio, and was assisted by producer Iteq Fitri Kristiyoarti and conductor Mas Krimbi. We succeeded in our process. The project has been made possible by the Development Budget from Amsterdam Fund for the Arts. The actual performance Parade is planned to take place in the dry season in 2024.

✨Good Fortune - Bon Chans✨ at BIG ART, Amsterdam
Exclusively for the 2023 edition of BIG ART Bajes art fair I will realise the site-specific spacial installation ✨Good Fortune - Bon Chans✨. The work is about the sale of medicines by vendors on the streets of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. I was there in 2009 and collected elements for this installation: photos, sounds, short videos, objects, ideas. Next to this a longer video has been filmed by the artist Reginald Sénatus in July 2023. I will build the installation with intern Caja Stenzler. Before BIG ART opens Haitian-born artist Fré Calm, contemporary ‘vodou’ practitioner, performed a cleansing ceremony inside the installation, for ✨Good Fortune - Bon Chanss✨. BIG ART Bajes is curated by Anne van der Zwaag and will take place September 29 until October 1, 2023, 11 AM till 6 PM, Wenckebachweg 48 Amsterdam.
