Presentation at Bureau Europa, Maastricht
Toko Su is the title of my presentation with a selection of works-for-sale at Bureau Europa, platform for architecture and design in Maastricht, during their exhibition Reis Bureau Europa. Opening September 2 from 4 till 7 PM. Until October 9 with a finissage from 3 till 5 PM. An article about Toko Su and my work in general appeared in Volkskrant newspaper.
Collages at group exhibition in centre of Amsterdam
New collages titled Witte Held #1: John Körmeling and Witte Held #2: Francis Alÿs are part of the group show Collected Works in the showcases of Kunst & Cultuur Amsterdam Centrum at Anthoniebreestraat. With the exhibition come a small book and a podcast. April 9 until September 17, 2022.
Street Vendors at Bag Factory, Johannesburg
Video installation Street Vendors has its South African premiere with a solo show at the Bag Factory in Johannesburg. Opening April 23, daily until April 30. Walkabout on the closing day. The show is part of a series celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Bag Factory, where I did a 3-month residency in 2010. Like in 2017, when filming the Johannesburg episode of the work, I will stay at Sylt Foundation, partner of the project. The exhibition is supported by the Mondriaan Fund International Presentations grant and Pictoright Steunfonds.
Presentation of Parade at Gamelanhuis, Amsterdam
The development of Parade is presented at Gamelanhuis in Amsterdam. Curator and moderator Imke Ruigrok and I will lead you through an hour of Javanese music and sounds, experiments and video, together with composer Sinta Wullur and the Javanese gamelan ensemble Mugi Rahayu. Sunday April 10, 4 till 5 PM.

Window presentation Eterna Primavera, Amsterdam
Eterna Primavera (Eternal Spring) is an ode to Medellín, Colombia. Due to its location near the equator and at 1500 m altitude, the city has a pleasant climate and is nicknamed the 'city of eternal spring'. I lived and worked there for six months thanks to contributions from Mondriaan Fonds. The installation Eterna Primavera is a window presentation at Studio Flip Lambalk, Zuiderkerkhof 3, Amsterdam. Opening December 11 from 3 till 5 PM. Until January 30, 2022.

Street Vendors in empty shop windows, Maastricht
The films of Street Vendors are part of the group exhibition Street View in shop windows in Maastricht. The show is curated by Bart van den Boom of Viewmaster Projects. Jalan and Calle are exhibited at Markt no. 69, Rruga and Street at Entre Deux. October 2 till 31, every evening from 8 till 11 PM.
Marleny at Playroom, Zaandam i.c.w. Jan Rothuizen
New video Marleny is part of group exhibition 50-50 Lady Justice curated by Marja van Putten and Astrid Moors. All female artists were asked to bring along a male counterpart. I invited Jan Rothuizen to relate to my work with drawings. Playroom gallery, Westzijde 99, Zaandam. Opening October 1 from 6-9 PM. Until October 24, Fri-Sun 1-6 PM.
Photo installation at CBK Zuidoost Amsterdam
A new photo installation titled Rising (2021) is part of the summer exhibition Zomersalon at CBK Zuidoost in Amsterdam. The work has been photographed in Tirana, Prizren and Medellín. July 1 until August 21.
Street Vendors at Plein Theater, Amsterdam
The four channel video installation Street Vendors: Medellín, Tirana, Johannesburg, Yogyakarta is exhibited at Plein Theater in Amsterdam from July 13 till July 30 from 12 till 8 PM. Along with the solo show I have a photo exhibition in the cafe. I will give two artist talks: one on July 13 at 8 PM, and another on July 23 at 4 PM.
Group show Inverted Cities at Galerie Waterbolk, Utrecht
For the Artist & Friends Series at Galerie Waterbolk in Utrecht I curate the exhibition Inverted Cities, with works of architect Lada Hršak, visual artists Neil Fortune, Ronald Nijhof, Senzo Shabangu and myself. In the group show we present our shared views on ingenuity in urban public space and celebrate the inexhaustible potential of everyday materials. June 2 till 6, 12 till 6 PM.
