Hoef van Eden, a reference to the Garden of Eden, is a permanent art work for the new Campus De Hoef primary school yard, commissioned by the city of Alkmaar. The installation consists of a bridge to an island in a pond, with a gazebo on stilts. Four trees surround the whole: one for each season. The basic material of the bridge and gazebo is hardwood, at the same time the beams of both structures are covered with tens of thousands of second-hand LEGO bricks. From a distance the work reminds of a landscape painting.
The opening of Hoef van Eden is planned to take place on Wednesday November 1, 2023. We are collecting especially red, green and brown LEGO bricks. If you want to donate and contribute to the art work, please contact Su Tomesen at su [at] sutomesen [dot] nl. Thank you!
