Tirana Institute of Contemporary Art, Tirana, Albania
During my residency at the Tirana Institute of Contemporary Art (TICA) in the Albanian capital Tirana in May-June and September 2016 I realized the film Rruga, the installation At the corner and several photographs.
The 30 minutes film Rruga is the second episode of the series of four films about micro economy and resourcefulness in urban public space: Street vendors: Medellín, Tirana, Johannesburg, Yogyakarta. Rruga premiered in September 2016. I filmed and edited the film myself; the editing was supervised by Vava Stojadinovic; the soundtrack was composed by Erik Spanjers.
Next to the film I collaborated with one of the street sellers, flower seller Valbona, to realise the installation At the corner for the closing show of the residency at ZETA Gallery in Tirana in June 2016. Read At the corner: Valbona, the florist.
The residence at TICA was supported by Mondriaan Fonds and curated by Italian artist Stefano Romano from the Museum of Art in Public Space (MAPS) i.c.w. Edi Muka, director of TICA. My fellow residents were the Serbian artist Branislav Nikolic from Belgrade and the Albanian artist Silva Agostini based in Berlin. More information on my blog.
